How to deal with stress
If you answered ‘yes’ to two or more of these questions, you may be suffering from stress. If so, there are a number of steps you can take to bring some calm back to your life.
Cut down on caffeine and alcohol. Stay hydrated with water or herbal tea instead. Try to reduce your sugar and nicotine intake too.
Exercise and rest
Go for a run or long walk. Do some stretches at your desk. Get at least seven hours of sleep every night. Try some simple meditation or make time to simply sit quietly and breathe deeply for a few minutes.
Organise your day with a task list and prioritise the most important things to get done. Learn to say ‘no’. You can’t do everything everyone asks.
Talk to someone
Don’t be afraid to ask a family member or close friend for help. It can be a big relief to share your problems. Lastly, if you’re feeling so stressed that you can barely get through the day, consider talking to a professional. There are a number of free services that offer support.
