Easter Family Holiday

The Easter holidays have started and it’s time for a well-deserved getaway. Leave the classroom behind and take the family on a fun Easter break that won’t break the bank.

Hartbeespoort Dam

North West Province

This popular holiday spot has plenty of affordable B&Bs and self-catering cottages to rent for a day or two. Located in the Bojanala Region of the North West Province, this holiday hub offers a host of exciting activities and laid-back leisure activities for kids and adults alike. From kayaking, boating and wind surfing on the dam to quaint farmstalls, art galleries, animal sanctuaries and much more, it’s the ideal getaway for the whole family.

Pilanesberg National Park & Game Reserve

North West Province

This nearby safari getaway will take you out of the city and into the wilderness in just over 3 hours. Choose from a range of accommodation facilities including tented camps and self-catering chalets, amongst others. There’s also a restaurant on site if you’d like a break from the kitchen. The park is a self-drive experience, so you’re free to explore in your own vehicle and spot the Big 5 as you go.

The Magaliesberg Mountains offer an array of opportunities for adventure and relaxation. Just an hour’s drive from Johannesburg, it’s a nature lover’s paradise. Take the kids on a hike through lush hills and gullies while spotting myriad birdlife along the way. Pretoria may just be 30 minutes from Johannesburg, but it certainly seems like a world away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Wander past quaint coffee shops, bistros, restaurants and farmer’s markets. Visit the 1000-year-old Wonderboom Fig Tree. Go shopping at the massive Menlyn Mall. Visit the historic Houses of Parliament and Constitution Hill, then settle down for a picnic in front of the Union Buildings.
